• Responsible for the daily operations of all network and circuit installations and repairs

• Planned outside plant and inside building fiber optics and copper cable installations

• Managed company technicians and contractors

• Managed the facilities and building construction

• Prepared and managed particular operations budgets

 

1996 – 2015     Inside Plant Engineer, Central Office Engineer and Facilities Manager

• Provided the surveys, engineering documents and managed contractors for equipment and cabling installations within buildings.  Negotiated equipment space with building engineers, property managers and or building owners.   Provided the engineering and access agreement document information to real estate, property manager/owners.

• I managed the facilities management requirements.  Including furniture and supplies purchases, plumbing, cleaning, space planning, lighting, snow/trash removal and as required.

• I managed the construction of collocation equipment cabinet requirements for customers. 

∙Provided OSP construction engineering when required.

• The city representative for twenty years to the corporate disaster planning and recovery team.  I worked with city officials having jurisdiction and FM Global for recovery, facility, equipment and other disasters, weather related issues and criminal intrusion planning.

•I managed the engineering, installation and operations for company video networks into TV stations, Lucas Oil Stadium, RCA Dome, Market Square Arena, Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Victory Field, Indiana State Fairgrounds and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

 

• I prepared the engineering, scope of work, budgets, bid documents and managed the contractor installations for:

 

The central offices and employee spaces building construction and other communications spaces from the ground up.  I managed the architects, construction managers and contractors.

 

Building required equipment common systems.  Including the utility, AC power and telecom entrances,  interior AC power systems, DC power systems, UPS installations, generator and transfer switches, HVAC and duct systems. 

 

Fire, safety and security systems.  The installation of wet and dry pipe sprinkler and clean agent fire suppression systems, VESDA smoke sniffing systems.  The door entry access and video surveillance security systems.  Managed disaster recovery programs.

As a member of the codes, standards and technical information and Methods committees, all since 1990, I participate with writing and editing NFPA NEC and IEEE NESC codes and numerous standards affecting communications, fire safety and buildings.  I write and edit technical manuals, with others, related to the communications and building industries.

 

I attend BICSI engineering conferences for training and continuing education credits in order to keep my RCDD credential.
